OAK RIDGE, N.J., March 17, 2014Lakeland Bank colleagues devoted over 15,000 hours to community service in 2013, the equivalent of 1.7 years of nonstop work. The Bank also donated nearly $474,000 to charities and nonprofits and raised $118,000 for college scholarships in Bergen, Essex, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren counties as part of the Bank’s commitment to the communities it serves
“As a community bank, we stay connected to the communities through our volunteer efforts and contributions,” said Thomas J. Shara, President and Chief Executive Officer, Lakeland Bank. “We invest our time, talent and resources in organizations and people who help make our neighborhoods a better place.  Our colleagues drive many of the recommendations of who we partner with as part of this effort.”
Special Events
Lakeland Bank has been serving northern New Jersey for nearly 45 years as both a trusted financial service provider and a strongly committed corporate citizen. We sponsor special community events throughout the year, including  two annual scholarship golf outings:
  • 41st Lakeland Bank Annual Scholarship Golf Outing, Hamburg, N.J.: We raised $118,000 to be distributed in 2014 to high school seniors at 52 high schools in the 8 counties we serve.
  • 32nd Sussex County Golf Classic, Newton, N.J.: Over $50,000 was raised to support local charities in Sussex County and the surrounding area.
  • Wiegand Farm Golf Classic, Oak Ridge, N.J.: As the 2013 event sponsor, we worked with The Department of Persons with Disabilities (DPD) to raise funds to support their programs which include residential and vocational support for adults with developmental disabilities and their families.
  • UNICO San Gennaro Festival, Montville, N.J.: As the official sponsor, we helped raise funds to assist neighbors in need. In the past, UNICO has used these funds to stock area food banks and feed needy families, provide scholarships and donate thousands of dollars to cancer research.
  • Push to Walk NJ Annual Golf Outing, Parsippany, N.J.: As a gift bag sponsor, we helped this nonprofit raise funds for exercise programs for people with spinal cord injuries, paralysis and other neurological conditions. Push to Walk NJ is a nonprofit based in Riverdale.
  • Girl Scouts of Northern NJ—Women of Achievement event, Woodland Park, N.J.: As a Connect sponsor, the Bank supported the Girl Scouts signature fundraising event in April 2013, which paid tribute to five women who personally and professionally made the world a better place for girls.
