Oak Ridge, N.J. – Dec. 29, 2021 – Lakeland Bank is pleased to announce it recently awarded a $10,000 Community Impact Grant to Sussex County Community College (SCCC) to help support the new Electrical Lineworker program.
“When I learned through my service on the Sussex Rural Electric Coop board of directors that SCCC was starting a new Electrical Lineworker program at the College, I nominated the program for the Lakeland Bank Community Impact Grant,” said Raymond Cordts, SVP, Business Development. “This type of local and specialized training program will help fill the void of skilled workers in this industry and provide a future pool of applicants in the community.”
“This generous donation from Lakeland Bank will be a valuable asset in the startup of the Electrical Lineworker Program at Sussex County Community College, which is an amazing collaboration between the College, Sussex Rural Electric, and Wallkill Valley High School,” said Jason Fruge, Dean of Technical Occupations, SCCC.
SCCC technical career programs and education have a direct and lasting impact on the community, its citizens, businesses, and economy – providing financial independence through quality education, promotion of well-being through a sense of accomplishment, and inclusion in the workforce. These programs support advancing an educated workforce, build confidence and esteem through professional development, team building, literacy, science, technology, engineering, mathematics and a wide variety of education initiatives.
